The affair was eventually discovered in November after Yasmeen had overheard a confrontation between Sonia and Sharif because of Alya's contempt (as she herself knew about the affair). Yasmeen intended to have it out with the pair, but hoped to delay the matter until after grandson Zeedan and Rana Habeeb had held their engagement party, but was unable to hold her tongue any longer and revealed the sordid secret in front of the guests. Later that evening, Yasmeen kicked both Sharif and Alya out of the house. A couple of days later Sharif sent a letter to Yasmeen telling her that he had left for Newcastle. Sonia continued hanging around the street, believing that she and Sharif would still end up together. An angry Zeedan accused her of being stupid and throwing away her marriage and cosy life for him. Later that night Sonia tried to make amends with Yasmeen in the street, but was met with a slap across the face due to her betrayal.
