G.U.N.'s colonel was responsible for the raid of Space Colony ARK to try and capture Gerald Robotnik's Project: Shadow for G.U.N.'s own purposes as a weapon fifty years ago. The raid on the ARK resulted in the deaths of many, including Gerald's granddaughter, Maria, who had managed to evacuate Shadow from the ARK. Enraged by this, the colonel had Gerald brought back to Mobius and ordered him at gun-point to build another Shadow and then revealed the fate of Maria to Gerald. His men then reported in that the original Shadow hadn't escaped them, and had him brought to Gerald to finish his work. But they soon realized that Gerald's designs were too great for them to understand and make he wasn't trying to "pull a fast one", so they had him executed and Shadow sealed away for the next fifty ye
