- The Snow Queen's Polar Bears are original characters from The Land of Stories series. They are talking bears. They first appear in The Enchantress Returns, ch 17.
- Polar bears aren’t truly white; their fur is actually translucent. This allows sunlight to soak through their fur and into their black skin helping them stay warm in chilly temperatures.
- The polar bears are spread out over at least eight locations in the Razgriz Straits. Due to the mission parameters of Demons of Razgriz, it is easiest to locate them while in Free Flight mode. They are displayed as one large polar bear (believed to be a mother) and two smaller polar bears (believed to be her cubs). Due to their size, it is impossible to see them from high altitudes or fast speed, and the player must fly slowly and below at most 50 feet. Using an aircraft such as the A-10A Thunderbolt II or YA-10B would be advisable since they are naturally slow aircraft.

- The key special ability that polar bears have is their tolerance for cold. They are able to tolerate temperatures as cold as -1000 degrees while still butt-naked. It is also rumored that they have the ability to read minds and may possess some telepathic abilities that they acquired from an ancient polar bear known as Minty. They use their telepathic abilities to move inanimate objects around and hurl them directly at you when in a fight! Polar bears have somewhat poor eyesight, so they use their mind reading abilities to determine where you are. They blend in frighteningly well to their arctic environment, so one may jump out at any time and start urinating on an American Flag or something equally horrible, such as clubbing baby seals, or voting Democrat (Alaska only). Ursologists have long suspected that polar bears are capable of surviving solely on coca-cola for months at a time, based on informational commercials that have been aired at various times on television.

- While hiking through the jungle on the day after the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, Sayid, Charlie, Boone, Shannon, and Kate begin to flee for their lives after hearing a noise off in the distance. Sawyer remains behind, and draws a gun (which he had lifted off of the body of the Marshal) and fired toward the object approaching him - which turned out to be a polar bear. As the group gathers around, they begin to ponder why there is a polar bear on an island so far south. After Walt took off into the jungle looking for Vincent, Michael and Locke followed his trail through the jungle to find him. When they arrived, they found Walt hiding in a gathering of trees, being attacked by a polar bear. Michael drops a knife to Walt to protect himself from it, Walt takes advantage of this and stabs the polar bear in the paw. When Walt is brought to safety, Michael takes control of the knife and stabs the bear underneath its chin, and retreats back into the jungle. The bear may or may not have had a DHARMA Initiative logo branded onto its fur. The DHARMA Initiative's Hydra Project used to house bears on the Hydra Island.
- According to an article in the Christian Science Monitor, Polar Bear Habitat at Center of Drilling Debate, "Native Alaskans and environmentalists have filed a suit to prevent the federal government's sale of drilling leases in Alaska's Chukchi Sea. The sales, set to begin Wednesday, will allow drilling in about 30 million acres, including critical polar bear habitat, environmentalists say. A decision on whether to list polar bears as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) is expected this week as well." Polar bears have been at the center of recent studies of global warming, as it is believed thinning arctic sea ice may have devastating effects on polar bears. Sea ice is a vital component of the polar bears' habitat, since they use it for denning and hunting. Despite evidence that documents recent thinning of arctic sea ice, polar bear populations have been increasing in recent years. "By some estimates there were as few as 5,000 polar bears in the 1950s when hunting for sport and profit was far less regulated. Today, scientists believe there are 20,000 to 25,000 polar bears, though this is still about 60 percent below historic levels." USGS scientists warn that changes in sea-ice conditions may lead to a loss of about two-thirds of the world's polar bear population within the next 50 years. Oil and gas industry spokesmen argue that regulatory limits on exploration activity may have only limited impact on conditions affecting the bears.
