| - The Shantak is an enemy from Final Fantasy X-2. It is a strong enemy at the start of the game but is relatively easy late in the game. It is much more difficult when in Oversoul due to the Chicken Wing attacks, but is still possible to defeat with ease. Use the strongest attacks the party has at the time to take it down.
- The Shantak were invented by H.P. Lovecraft for his Dreamlands, where they dwelt in the vicinity of Leng. They are usually described as being similar to dragons with horse-like heads. However, the description of a Shantak by August Derleth in The Gable Window is very similar to that of a Byakhee, suggesting that the two could be the same species (if one disregards the other description); they are described as bat-like with a height equal to or greater than a man, furry with beaked/vulture-like heads. It is possible that, like the relationship suggested for the Tcho-Tchos and Men of Leng, the two forms represent waking world and dream world forms of the same being.
- Shantaks are gargantuan aerial organisms which reside in the Cold Waste of Earth's Dreamlands. They are larger than elephants and have a head reminiscent of that of a horse. They are scaly with slimy skin and are carried through the air by bat-like wings. Their feet form two strong talons. Shantaks are occasionally summoned to serve as steeds. They are hunted by the Elder God Nodens and greatly fear Nightgaunts.
- This is a powerful Bird Family monster. Formula: Whipbird x Greatdrak/Jamirus
