Gregory Papanin was a handyman in Smidovich, Soviet Union. As was common in the isolated town, Papanin worked only as efficiently as necessary. Consequently, when newcomer Vasili Yasevich proved to be very efficient, Papanin felt his livelihood being threatened. He and some of this friends accosted Yasevich on the street, and Yasevich promised not to be a such a Stakhanovite.
