- The Old Oak was the heart of Lakeview Village and the first thing visitors saw upon arrival in Dragonhollow during the First Era. It was one of the Great Trees, sacred spirits infused with protective power by Eris. The exact age of the Old Oak is unclear, but it predated both the First Era and Lakeview itself. It may have been the first living thing to grace the surface of Dragonhollow. The tree contained a gateway to and from other worlds. Newcomers always entered Dragonhollow there, as did the dead upon their rebirth. The Lakeview Bounty Board was located at the base of the tree trunk.

Nestled within the trunk and branches of the Old Oak was a network of secret passages, platforms, and chambers. Some provided citizens with important information, including the Survival Guide. Others contained useful appliances such as furnaces, enchanting tables, and crafting tables. There was also a nether portal. The Lakeview Bounty Board was located at the base of the tree trunk. Several pages from the Bloodmoon Journal were hidden within the Old Oak in the days before the First Bloodmoon. On 1E:59, all lighting in the Old Oak ceased mysteriously and the entire tree went dark. It became a place of quiet foreboding, a fry cry from the lively and warm social center it once was. This was later revealed to be related to All Hollow's Eve. During the cataclysmic First Bloodmoon crisis, many terrified citizens took refuge in the tree only to find it crawling with monsters and other dangers. It eventually collapsed under their combined weight and fell, a symbolic harbinger of the coming apocalypse. Eris preserved a single sapling that survived the Old Oak's destruction and later planted it in the Fourth Era. The sapling eventually blossomed into the Lignum Vitae.
