Sylvia Chalmers was a Doctor in the small town, Harmony responsible for treating Private Officer First Class Thomas Dorn as she was the only doctor for 40 miles at the time and as such, she still saw some of the older patients who didn't trust her thirty-seven year old rival, Doctor Bernger who was also buying out her practice. Apparently, Dorn came into the doctor's office one day instead of an examination room because the Doctor's Surgery Chalmers worked at only had one and the Thomas twins were in there at the time with the measles.

  • Sylvia Chalmers was a Doctor in the small town, Harmony responsible for treating Private Officer First Class Thomas Dorn as she was the only doctor for 40 miles at the time and as such, she still saw some of the older patients who didn't trust her thirty-seven year old rival, Doctor Bernger who was also buying out her practice. Apparently, Dorn came into the doctor's office one day instead of an examination room because the Doctor's Surgery Chalmers worked at only had one and the Thomas twins were in there at the time with the measles. Furthermore, when Dorn collapsed, they called for an ambulance, but it was working a car accident way out on Turtle Creek and due to those ill turn of events, Dorn eventually passed away. It was later revealed that Chalmers was also the coroner at the time of Dorn's death and that she had the body cremated because she didn't think there was any point in doing an autopsy. She also mentioned that the victim's sister was so distraught over the thought of him being cut up so she didn't do it and that the sister wanted to scatter his ashes over the Blue Ridge mountains. When NCIS Agents Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Caitlin Todd and Anthony DiNozzo who were investigating Dorn's death headed to Melissa's house, having gotten probable cause as a reason to enter the house thanks to Abigail Sciuto's tests, they discovered Dr Chalmers and it was revealed that Chalmers was in fact Melissa's mother much to Tony and Kate's obvious shock. No sooner than entering the room, Chalmers went into detail about how Melissa had defrauded an insurance company at the behest of her "wicked half-brother" and went on to say that everything was Melissa's fault, presumably attempting to make sure that her daughter took the fall while hoping to convince the NCIS Agents that Chalmers herself was completely innocent. But thankfully Gibbs had a surprise in store for Chalmers: the digitalis found in Dorn's leg could be identified by a chemical marker and he told Chalmers that it came from a stock she owned. Melissa told her mother that the investigators knew that Chalmers killed Dorn and chopped him up. Furious, Chalmers slapped Melissa, stating that her daughter was crazy and that they couldn't use anything she'd said in court. Gibbs countered with the revelation that Melissa had been read her rights but she'd waived them so they could use all the information they had gathered and that they would. Her scheme having gone up in smoke, Chalmers then turned to Melissa, calling her a "little fool" which Melissa told her that she didn't care anymore. She'd loved P.C Doran and her mother had murdered him. As a result, Chalmers was eventually arrested, taken into custody and presumably jailed alongside her daughter.
