| - Yamok sauce was a popular Cardassian condiment. Tojal in yamok sauce was considered a Cardassian delicacy. (DS9: "Destiny") Yamok sauce was also adapted to serve with Terran food, and was found to be enjoyable served with asparagus. (DS9: "By Inferno's Light") It could also be eaten on sand peas. (DS9: "The Way of the Warrior") On Deep Space 9 in 2369, Broik ordered 5,000 wrappages of the sauce, which were worthless without Cardassians to consume it. Nog was able to acquire the sauce, and he and Jake Sisko traded it to a Lissepian captain for 100 gross of self-sealing stem bolts. (DS9: "Progress") Aamin Marritza mentioned that his replicated sem'hal stew could use a little yamok sauce. (DS9: "Duet") Quark, in anticipation of a Dominion takeover of DS9, smuggled in 10,000 wrappages of the sauce, which was promptly dumped by station officials when discovered. (DS9: "Call to Arms") In a deleted scene from "Behind the Lines" , Quark acquired ten crates of yamok sauce that he wanted Rom to unpack. According to the script for "By Inferno's Light", this sauce's name was pronounced as "YA-mok". [1]
- Yamok sauce is a flavorful condiment of Cardassian origin which has gained widespread use on food in regions of space neighboring the Union. Its opposite, in taste and topping uses, (such as ketchup to mustard on Earth) is kamoy syrup. Quark on several occasions stated that many species couldn't stand the taste of yamok sauce and became furious when his brother Rom ordered a large quantity of it by accident.
