| - Coined between 1820 and 1830 from [[w:|]][[Category: derivations|Aberrant]] aberrāns, present active participle of aberrō (“‘go astray; err’”). See aberr.
- Aberrant refers to a creature origin, concerning those that are native to or shaped by the Far Realm. Creatures with the aberrant origin can be identified with a monster knowledge check using the dungeoneering skill.
- Aberrant is a superhero RPG set in 2008, ten years after people with unnatural powers emerged, who were called novas or aberrants. With these powers came corruption. The more super-powers a nova gains, the likelier it is that his dark side wins. The game used a modified version of the Storyteller System. In 2004, a conversion for the d20 System was released. Aberrant is set 90 years after the Adventure! RPG and 110 years before the Trinity RPG.
- Super powers in Aberrant come from an individual's ability to manipulate energy at the "quantum" sub-atomic level. Since individuals who can do this have an imperfect understanding of quantum mechanics, their powers are limited by their subconscious and usually follow a specific "path" or are linked to a specific focus. For instance, all the powers of the nova called Anteus revolve around nature; he can teleport by stepping into a tree and out of another tree of the same type somewhere else, create new species of animals, or alter the normal course of life and death for plants and animals. All his powers follow his focus of nature. Other novas have other foci such as plasma, fire, water, shapechanging, or invulnerability.
- Aberrant is a posthuman/superhero roleplaying game, and is the middle game in the Trinity Universe trilogy. Referred to as both the Aberrant Era and the Nova Age, Aberrant is a superpowers game set in the early 21st century. Novas, the protagonists of the game, are used as a metaphor for modern celebrities. In 2012, Onyx Path Publishing purchased the full rights to the Trinity Universe, and are planning their own new edition, to be titled the Trinity Continuum: Aberrant. As it is no longer a White Wolf product, new releases will not be covered here on the Wiki.
