The 1964 National 400 was a Grand National (then Winston Cup) event held at Lowe's Motor Speedway on October 18, 1964. Fred Lorenzen won his eighth and final event of the year despite leading just seven laps, holding off Jim Paschal by more than a lap. Eventual season champion Richard Petty finished 3rd despite crashing with a few laps to go while leading. Stats
