abstract
| - The Borleenan TIE bomber was manufactured only on the planet Borleen by Excor Industries. It was designed by Althur Grell and Goroth Rall with the blessing of Sienar Fleet Systems who at the time thought it wise to outsource premium regional TIE variants to local manufacturers. The TIE/sa-2, as it was designated by SFS was one of the most luxurious Imperial fighter designs featuring Borleenan wooden instrument paneling, Borleenan grazer leather upholstery, and an onboard life support system. Perhaps its most major modification was the miniaturization of certain internal components by Goroth Rall allowing for the addition of a second seat, a hyperdrive, and a tiny shield generator. The seat could be removed creating a small cargo space. The hyperdrive was also removable. While it proved incredibly popular with Imperial pilots, the Imperial Navy was reluctant to pay such a high price for a mere "Y-Wing wannabe" in the words of Grand Admiral Declann. Grand Admiral Zaarin however felt very differently regarding the unorthodox fighter and purchased at least 10 squadrons using his own money. These squadrons were presumably destroyed when Zaarin's Star Destroyer was. Another buyer was the Corporate Sector Authority seeking to compliment their IRD fighters with powerful bombers. It was believed that by the time of the New Jedi Order that all Borleenan TIE bombers had been retired in favor of the newer Scimitar assault bombers.
