Cameron played junior hockey in Regina with the Regina Ware's Generals and Regina Abbotts from 1938 to 1940. In 1940-41 he joined the senior Regina Rangers and helped that team to an Allan Cup. In 1941-42 Cameron went to the New York Rovers but a back injury kept him out of all but 6 games. The following season he was called up to the New York Rangers and scored 8 goals and 11 assists in 35 games. After the war Cameron played minor pro and senior hockey.
