Chlorophyll is a pigment often used in photosynthesis. In plants, it's usually found in photosystems which absorb light and transmit it to a special chlorophyll molecule which starts it on the electron transport chain. All that is contained in the chloroplasts in plants. Chlorophyll is found in other things as well such as cyanobacteria which do not contain chloroplasts. One could consider cyanobacteria as closely related to chloroplasts, however.
