Hurricane Andrew of 2022 was a extremely long-lived hurricane and was a very strong category 5 hurricane. On July 23, the NHC started to monitor a tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa. The NHC started to compare this system to Andrew of 1992 because they predicted it would take a similar track. Once it formed the NHC gave it the name "Tropical Storm Andrew" even though Alex was the next name that was supposed to be used. Andrew would strengthen into a Category 1 Hurricane on July 1. Andrew was predicted to become a Category 2 and weaken, but Andrew would go under extreme intensification into a 195 MPH Category 5 Hurricane. Andrew caused over $200 Billion (2022 US Dollars) which is the costliest hurricane to hit US Soil.
