- Omer Jarrah est le frère ainé de Sayid. Alors que Sayid et Omer étaient enfants, leur père s'approche d'Omer et lui demande qu'il tue un poulet tout seul, afin de prouver qu'il est un homme. Omer hésite et tient le couperet en main un certain temps sans arriver à le faire. Sayid arrive alors et tord le coup d'un des poulets sous ses yeux puis luis donne. Leur père pense au début qu'Omer l'a tué et il est content, mais quand il apprend que ce n'est pas lui il fait remarquer d'un ton critique qu'au moins l'un d'entre eux sera un homme et félicite fièrement Sayid. - Omer is the older brother of Sayid Jarrah, and resided with his brother and his family in Tikrit, Iraq. Some time during his childhood, Omer reached an age where his father determined it was time for him to show more responsibility and maturity. In order to help his son mature and grow, the father told his son to kill a chicken without hesitation. When Omer was reluctant to perform the act, his father scolded him. To save his older brother the shame and horror of the act, Sayid grabbed the chicken in question and broke its neck. However, this only caused the father to praise Sayid's initiative, and continue to scold Omer further. (He's Our You)
- One day in his childhood, his father approached him and requested that he kill a chicken on his own as a way to prove his maturity. Omer hesitated and held the cleaver for a while unwilling to proceed. Sayid then approached him and wrung the chicken's neck in front of him. Their father initially thought Omer killed it and appreciated him, but when he knew it wasn't him, he critically remarked that at least one of them was going to be a man and proudly congratulated Sayid.
