Martin L. Marks (born 1962) is a former Mayor of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, where he had served since 2000. Marks was a Republican candidate for the United States House of Representatives in New Jersey's 7th congressional district to succeed retiring congressman Mike Ferguson in 2008. Marks was elected to the Scotch Plains township council in 1996, and was elected Mayor of Scotch Plains in 2000. Marks has previously served on the Scotch Plains Environmental Commission, Planning Board, and was the Republican nominee for New Jersey Senate in the 22nd Legislative District in 2003. Marks is a dentist by profession. Marks is a 1980 graduate of Cranford High School. He holds a bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech and studied dentistry at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
