The 1956-35 was a Convertible Series event held at Monroe County Fairgrounds on August 17, 1956. Curtis Turner was by far the dominant car in the race, starting on the pole and leading the first 152 laps. But on lap 153, his race ended with a crash. From there, Joe Weatherly went onto victory, holding off Danny Letner by a lap. Eventual season champ Bob Welborn was fifth. Stats
