Most Anvil cases are designed to be ATA and IATA approved for transit via air cargo. The original Anvil case company has changed ownership several times and is now owned by a former competitor, the Calzone company. Cases are typically constructed of plywood covered with colored plastic, and feature heavy duty edges, corners, and hardware which is attached with rivets. Although these types of cases were originally designed for transporting musical equipment, cases are now configured for a large array of movie making, computer, scientific, and military equipment.
