A.E. (Alfred Edward) Housman (March 26, 1859 – April 30, 1936) was an English poet on Earth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Jean-Luc Picard quoted Housman to Deanna Troi as she considered the wisdom of recruiting Hent Tevren into the Betazed resistance: "How dead we lie because we did not chose to live and shame the land from which we sprung."
