C'est un remake de Donkey Kong Country 2 : Diddy's Kong Quest sorti sur Super Nintendo. Comme son prédécesseur, Donkey Kong Land, Donkey Kong Land 2 essaye de transformer le jeu Super Nintendo en 32-bits en un jeu en 8-bits pour la Game Boy, mais cette fois-ci la grande limitation n'est pas comme Donkey Kong Land un problème de perspective du décor, mais plutôt un problème de son et de musique.
