It is intended to be a sanctuary for the Siberian Eagle-Owl, called huuhkaja in Finnish. The land is within the Syktyvkar Unitary Authority, and actually borders Jarkko Salomäki's property in Nizhnyy Chov. It was established in June of 2008. It is accessible by road from Nizhnyy Chov, Verkhnyy Chov, and also from Ezhva, and contains a large visitor centre with several educational exhibits (in Finnish, English, Russian, Hungarian, and Komi-Zyrian) and a medium-sized gift shop. There are also a great many binocular stations in the area. It is considered one of Syktyvkar's treasures, and many notable Sikkivukarilaiset have contributed financially to it, including many Uralican Tribal Council members, notably Jarkko Salomäki, Vaido Kuik, Lasse Mäkelä, Sirkka Numminen, and Akhmetkhan Gubaidulin. All five Pelastus members have also chipped in.
