The JCRG16C01 features a slightly smaller (98% normal size) RG body with a strip of maple down the center with Honduran mahogany wings and a spalted maple top. The maple and wenge neck is also slightly shorter than the typical RG neck with a 24¾" scale. The neck has a 24-fret bound ebony fretboard with offset dot position markers and a headstock which matches the top. The fretboard is much more rounded than the typical RG with a 250mm (~10") radius. The frets are medium/jumbo size. The neck is attached with a slightly thicker than typical All Access neck joint.

Components include dual custom humbucking pickups, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge, recessed Easy Access control knobs and locking nut. Other downsized RG models include the JCRG11M, JCRG11R and JCRG1403. It's believed that as few as three examples of this model were produced.
