The Dancing Goddess, along with another statuette from the House of the Goddess known as the Minstrel, were much sought after, as it was said that they led the way to great power when brought together. The Dancing Goddess was once retrieved by BoShek in return for paid debts to Prince Xizor. Jabba Desilijic Tiure stole the statue on a visit to Godo and stored it in his Mos Eisley town house. After the Hutt's death, Doda Bodonawieedo robbed the town house and took the Goddess with him. He sold it back to an art dealer on Tharkos, demanding an exorbitant price for it. At some point prior to the Battle of Endor, Lando Calrissian won the Dancing Goddess and the Minstrel in a game of cards. He claimed to have the two artifacts in his possession since his days as Baron Administrator of Cloud City, however, so it is possible that the one owned by Jabba was a fake. The removal of the Dancing Goddess and the Minstrel were the cause of the affliction which ravaged Godo and its native species.
