He played junior hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs from from 1937 to 1940, winning the Manitoba Junior Hockey League scoring title in 1939-40. The New York Americans signed him as a free agent and he played two seasons with them, playing in 67 games, scoring 11 goals and 25 assists. In 1942 he joined the Canadian military and played in 1944-43 for the senior Sydney Navy and Winnipeg Navy teams and did not play at all in the next two years. In 1945-46 he returned to pro hockey and played five seasons in the American Hockey League, retiring in 1950.
