abstract
| - The Yogscast is an organisation that produces videos (primarily playthroughs) of various video games. The Yogscast was founded by Simon Lane and Lewis Brindley with their first video released on YouTube on the 19th of July 2008. The Yogscast are most famous for their coverage of World of Warcraft and Minecraft, and claim to have played a large part in Minecraft's commercial success. Their main YouTube channel was the first channel in the UK to reach 1 billion views, and as of January 2012 is the fourth most popular YouTube channel in the UK (after The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, and the BBC). The channel has over 2 million subscribers. The Yogscast have also attended and covered several gaming conferences and events. At Gamescom 2011 the Yogscast promoted the Xperia PLAY with Minecraft: Pocket Edition in place of Notch (Markus Persson), creator of Minecraft, who was unable to attend in person. The Yogscast and Notch had a major falling out after MineCon 2011, in which Notch accused the Yogscast of profanity and unprofessional behavior and stated he would no longer work with the Yogscast. He later apologised for his accusations. Other conventions and events covered by the Yogscast include BlizzCon 2011, GeForce LAN 6, and E3 2012. The Yogscast group have six YouTube channels: BlueXephos, Yogscast2, YogscastSips, YogscastSjin, Yogscastlalna, and YogscastRythian. They also produce a podcast called the YoGPoD.
