In Civilization IV, a continent is a maximal set of contiguous land tiles. Thus every island is its own continent. A civilization's home continent is the continent where its capital is. Continents are used in the following rules: * Intercontinental trade routes are more lucrative. * Some wonders (Notre Dame, Three Gorges Dam, Statue of Liberty) have continental effects. * AI players won't send Settlers through foreign cultural boundaries on their home continent. * You cannot create a vassal on your home continent.
