abstract
  • Founded in 1998 by Mark Paquette and Chris Hanson, the goal of thedatabank has always been to help organizations build and sustain relationships with supporters through database and communication technology. Paquette's and Hanson’s histories include working and volunteering in the nonprofit sector- with involvement in issues such as social justice, peace and human rights. Paquette, a former engineer with Honeywell, worked on guidance systems for nuclear missiles before moving into educational software design, where he led technical teams for three versions of the bestselling educational computer game “The Oregon Trail.” Hanson, whose background includes founding or co-founding six companies, raised millions of dollars for organizations such as Farm Aid, the Sierra Club, Special Olympics and Honor the Earth. The pair met in 1993 working together on a Democratic gubernatorial campaign. When Hanson’s St. Paul direct marketing agency split in 1997, he called Paquette with a business idea: thedatabank. Since then, the pair have devoted themselves to developing and delivering innovative database and communication software to help nonprofit and government organizations cultivate their donor and supporter relationships.
