Gaius Livius Salinator was the son of Marcus who was a Roman Consul of the gens Livia. He is said to found the city of Forum Livii (Forlì today), in Italy during Gaius Livius Salinator's consulship in 188 BC. He also served as admiral when he was Praetor in 191 BC. This was in the war against Antiochus III the Great and that's when his admiral was defeated, Polyxenidas, during a naval engagement off the coast of Corycus.
