The Beta Magellan system (also known as the Bynar system) was an inhabited planetary system. This was a multiple star system with at least two stars, one of which was referred to as Beta Magellan, and the planet Bynaus, the homeworld of the Bynars. The system was located near Tarsas III. In the 22nd century, Doctor Phlox visited this star system and encountered the Bynars and saw the procedure of replacing the parietal lobe with a synaptic processor after their childbirth. • The Beta Magellan system (also known as the Bynar system) was an inhabited planetary system. (ENT: "Regeneration") In 2364, after one of the stars in the system supernovaed, the Bynar-hijacked USS Enterprise-D entered into orbit around the planet Bynaus, with a complete copy of the database of the planet's main computer core. The copy had been transmitted to the ship during the journey, to protect the data from the electromagnetic effects of the supernova passing through the planet. With a successful download of the duplicate data, the Bynars averted an extinction-level event. (TNG: "11001001" )
