abstract
| - The station is served by Chiltern Railways trains from London Marylebone and Princes Risborough towards Aylesbury and is situated between Monks Risborough and Aylesbury stations. Passengers wishing to travel beyond Princes Risborough will usually have to change, but there are some through services to London Marylebone. A PERTIS (permit to travel) ticket machine is located (3/09) on the platform. The railway was opened on 1 October 1863 although the station was not provided until 1872. The station building once had ornate stone chimneys, and was an exact copy of the up station building at Kings Sutton. In 1998 Little Kimble played host to the Royal Train. The G8 Summit was held in Birmingham that year and the wives of the G8 leaders, including Cherie Blair and Hilary Clinton, were conveyed to Chequers via Royal Train. Little Kimble is the nearest station to Chequers, so after reversing at Princes Risborough, the train disembarked at Little Kimble where the wives were transferred to Chequers via limosine. The station was transferred from the Western Region of British Rail to the London Midland Region on 24 March 1974.
