The National Bank of the United States (NBUS) is the central bank of the United States, controlling interest rates and monetary policy. It is a completely separate entity from the United States Department of the Treasury, which directly issues currency. The National Bank is the lender of last resort to every bank in the United States as well as to most banks, including the Royal Bank of Alaska, within the NATOEC. The National Bank, as the insurer of the United States dollar, is the holder of one of the world's two reserve currencies, the other being the franc.
