Choggenmugger was a ferocious beast which lived in the forest of Regos. It had wide jaws, four rows of sharp teeth, and its body was covered with huge scales that were thick and hard. Choggenmugger was so old that everyone thought it must have been alive since the world was made. It had eaten all the dragons in Regos, along with all the great serpents and crocodiles which lived in the forest marshes. Anyone unfortunate enough to met with Choggenmugger gave himself up for lost, as they knew well there was no use opposing the Great Beast.
