- A "fatwa" is a religious proclamation similar to Stephen Colbert's On Notice board. Although the practice of issuing fatwas was perfected by Islamic preachers who are called things like "Iman" or "Ayatollah" or some such nonsense, it has turned out to be a useful tool for enforcing the Fundamental Faithiness of all who are on any of the paths to accepting Jesus Christ. The Pope calls his fatwas encyclicals.

Preachers like Pastor Ted Haggard, Pat Robertson, and James Dobson have issued their own versions of fatwas which are known in the United States as Marriage Protection Amendments®. These amendments directly caused the divorce epidemic in the Christian faiths. The Pope calls his fatwas encyclicals.
