Rick Paul "Jumbo" Lapointe (August 2, 1955 – October 17, 1999) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played eleven seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques and Los Angeles Kings. He played junior hockey with the Victoria Cougars of the Western Hockey League. Lapointe was drafted 5th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. Lapointe played a total of 664 NHL games and scored 44 goals and 176 assists, He died in 1999 of a heat attack.
