- Spike Top is an enemy first appearing in Super Mario World and appeared in New Super Mario Bros., Super Princess Peach, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. These Buzzy Beetle variants grip the surface of blocks and march across a series of blocks, with a spike atop their heads to injure Mario. They cannot be defeated by a fireball, which can usually exterminate an enemy, but they can be knocked off the stage if Mario knocks the block the Spike Top is above.
- Spike Tops appear in the D.I.Y. game, New Super Mario Bros. D.I.Y., just like they did in the previous New Super Mario Bros.
- Spike Tops are just Buzzy Beetles with spikes on top. Becuase of this, they cannot be jumped on normally without hurting Mario or his Partner. The Spike Tops in Paper Mario have red shells, while the ones in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are blue. They reappear in Super Paper Mario with blue shells.
- Spike Tops are enemies from the overly popular Mario series. They first appeared in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game Super Mario World, where they would crawl on undergound ceilings and walls. They are pretty much Buzzy Beetles with spikes on their head, which obviously indicates that Mario or Luigi can't jump on top of them, and spin jumps do no damage. They cannot be injured by fire attacks either making them one of the game's tougher enemies, and can only be defeated with the use of a shell, star, cape or Yoshi.
