  • The Company of the Shadow, formerly known as the Death Falcons, are a chapter of Chaos Space Marines. As the Death Falcons, they vanished during the "Fall of Bastonbeil". This occurred when an ancient and terrible chaotic creature rose from the underhive of Bastonbeil's capital city and began to feed upon the souls of the living, ultimately devouring millions. The Death Falcons soon responded with their entire Chapter (presumably 10 companies of 100 each, which is the typical size of a Space Marine chapter), and they did battle with the mindless zombies left over by the creature's feeding, before finally hunting the beast itself down.

While it is not known what occurred during within those dark depths of the underhive, three months later the Death Falcons were no more. Instead, the Company of the Shadow emerged, wearing gray power armor that writed with the faces of the damned. Storming the upper reaches of the hive, they overthrew the Imperial Commander and took control of the planet. Over the last 900 years they have used the enslaved planet as their base of operations, using it to launch their bloody crusade against the neighboring systems.
