| - The most fearsome of all mercenary units, the Super Bombard consists of a huge metallic cylinder built to fire large-calibre projectiles. Its long length and its size means that while it isn't that useful at bombarding individual knights, castles and cities don't stand a chance even if just one of these units are built.

abstract
| - The most fearsome of all mercenary units, the Super Bombard consists of a huge metallic cylinder built to fire large-calibre projectiles. Its long length and its size means that while it isn't that useful at bombarding individual knights, castles and cities don't stand a chance even if just one of these units are built. All this power, however, comes at a price and equipping these monster guns is a logistical challenge. Because of its size and its consumption of resources, the Super Bombard is slow to move around, and equally slow to fire, while having a markedly increased ramp cost. Thus, only those facing some serious threats like Asiatic fortresses or fleets and fleets of spammed warships should construct these weapons. But once somebody brings these weapons down to bear on their targets, there is very little that one can do to stop them, although it should be noted that they do have a fairly large minimum range, so they are highly vulnerable to mass melee charges unless properly guarded. Additionally, the poor LOS of these units means that despite their good range, they still need units to spot targets for them, thus they are best used against large or stationary targets. Accounts state that the successful fall of Constantinople to the Turks in 1453 was attributed to the pieces constructed for the Ottoman Sultan by a mysterious figure named Orban or Urban, who was supposedly a migrant from Hungary — other sources however dispute this fact and claim that he may have been ethnically German or Vlach, given that he came from an area in the Hungarian kingdom where the Vlach people where a majority. What is certain, however, is that by the mid-15th century rulers in Asia and Europe were beginning to recognise the value of firearms as being more than just affecting enemy morale, and the slew of super-sized gun barrels that can be found all over Europe today hints at the proliferation of these weapons towards the end of the Mediaeval Era.
