Tanner Watermask was a normal wizard that lived a normal life. Except that he came from the future Wizard City! His parents were Kevin Watermask and Sarah Watermask. It was a lot more dangerous in the future. He was born in the middle of the Clan War; a dangerous war between the Wraith Knights Clan and Frostbite Clan. He was sent to the past with the Time Ribbon to warn present-day Wizard City about the war but, he was knocked down by Lord Nightshade before he could warn Ambrose. He was injured and in bed for 3 full years and forgotten where, he came from, what was his purpose, and where are his parents.
