The plan eventually failed and only created large opposition against Marcinek, which included opposition from his own party members. Fellow party politicians stormed his office on September 11, 2873 and destroyed his papers and threw his computer out the window. As this had occurred, Marcinek was on vacation in an unknown foreign country but late that day received word of the "coup" of the party and resigned from the Diet. In the weeks following this incident, accountants in the VF reported irregularities in party finances and it is believed that Marcinek may have stolen around $10,000 from party funds prior to his removal from office.
