| - The 13th Fighter Squadron of the Aerospace Arm, known as The Fates, is a NAA unit within the Caspian Navy. It is a component of the Home Fleet Group, but has a per-assignment berthing that typically rotates from one location to another. They're one of the very few NAA units that behaves like a Marine Aerospace Division unit in this manner. The actual mission profile and readiness rating for CNFS-13 is not disclosed — only the official pilot's roster lists the CO, Captain Adam Shadow, and the XO, Commander Thomas Alva, with the rest of the roster changing very frequently.

A previous CNFS-13, the Mad Hatters, were completely wiped out during the opening battle of the Imperial War of Aggression. Many of the Mad Hatters were decorated posthumously for actions during the battle, but there was no reason to reactivate the squadron for some time. As proactive patrolling and surveillance once again became a necessary mission under the current state of the Union, the Admiralty reconstituted the squadron under a new name and profile. The actual mission profile and readiness rating for CNFS-13 is not disclosed — only the official pilot's roster lists the CO, Captain Adam Shadow, and the XO, Commander Thomas Alva, with the rest of the roster changing very frequently. The Fates have been very active in various missions, including increased patrols of "The Alley" — the CDU's 'on-ramp' to the Perlemian Trade Route. Much of this has come from the sudden tension between the CDU and the Empire in 15 ABY. Many of these patrols have led to conflicts with pirate groups who make heavy use of the Alley as an ambush point for shipping traveling down the PTR towards New Republic assets in Tion, Cron, and Dac. The Fates are also active in anti-piracy patrol and recon, flying alongside the Nighthawks — a MAD squadron noted for its long history of anti-piracy activities and 'Recon in Force.' A grudging acceptance between the two groups is forming, although the usual MAD/NAA rivalries tend to flare up during engagements with the pirates of the Union sectors. This usually takes the form of scorekeeping, but the post-mission drinks/brawls get quite heated. Rumors persist that this squadron was activated at the request of the Naval Intelligence Office, and that its 'pilots' are drawn from wherever necessary for the mission given to the squadron's CO. The NIO denies any involvement in the formation of the Fates, and there is no CNFS-13 listed as an NIO asset on its asset rolls.
