The Scavenger Carapace is a Unique Breast Plate from Diablo I. Its Resistance to Lightning makes it extremely useful during the early session and mid-game. Unfortunately, because monsters hit for more than 100 damage in melee in later levels of Hell Difficulty, any gear setups with this armor will only frustrate the player unless they allows a bug described below to take place, because they will be hit far too often to be worth taking a little less damage, and given the high resists they have at that point, it is barely noticeable from Succubi and Magi.

This item, especially when paired with a few other damage absorbing, deflecting equipments, can make crowds of fast hitting monsters entirely irrelevant. Reducing damage also makes it more difficult for the enemies to stun-and-lock a character into Hit Recovery. In Multiplayer, this item is bugged. By equipping, dropping and picking it back up, its Armor Class will increase to 250.
