| - Joe Guide is a former NASCAR driver from Memphis, TN. He competed in nine Sprint Cup Series events in his career. Guide's debut came during the 1952 season, when he competed at the famed Daytona Beach. It was not the best of debuts for the driver, as he struggled to 58th in the large sixty-one car field. He fared little better later in the year when he tackled Darlington for the famed Southern 500, only completing half of the race to finish 46th. Guide ran the same schedule during the 1953, to find some marginally better results. This time, Guide was 17th on the Beach, completing all but three laps on the famed road course. He was also poised for a respectable run at Darlington until some mid-race engine issues left Guide 51st. Guide finally found some consistency during the 1954 season, earning mid-pack efforts in both of his starts. He was 25th down at Daytona Beach, completing all but four laps in his Hudson. But this time, Guide elected to skip the Southern 500 and instead competed at his home track in LeHi. There, Guide emerged from the field of sixty-two with a 26th place showing. Guide again mildly changed his schedule for the 1955 season, this time competing in both LeHi races. Guide was impressive on his home track, finishing a career-best 13th in the August race and following that up with another respectable 23rd place performance in the October show. Guide's final career start came in 1956, when he made his final laps around LeHi. Starting last (29th) in the field, Guide steadily improved throughout the day and ended his career on a high note with a 15th place finish.
