Deletion of an article removes the current version and all previous versions from public view. abstract
  • Deletion of an article removes the current version and all previous versions from public view. Unlike page blanking, which can be performed (or reverted) by any user, deletion can be performed only by administrators. If in doubt as to whether there is consensus to delete a page, administrators will normally not delete it. Any article or page that meets the deletion criteria should be flagged using the template. Images and media can be flagged with the template. This action will automatically add the page to the category or , repsectively. Pages are added to these categories for review and discussion before being deleted. Discussion about keeping a candidate for deletion should be made at the appropriate category's talk page, Candidates for deletion talk page for pages or Images for deletion talk page. If after a period of 7 days there is no objection to the deletion and if the rationale for deletion is accurate and valid, the page will be removed by an administrator. (cases of speedy deletion candidates differ in bypassing the discussion process) Once a page is deleted it should not be re-created. At the same time, even after a page is deleted, any editor can have the page restored by simply making a request from an administrator or stating a solid case for its return on the A Fifth Dimension:Candidates for deletion page. However, it is very much encouraged that the editor making the request endeavors to fix any of the problems that were grounds for the page's deletion in the first place. This helps to limit the possibility of further controversy. If the proposed deletion of a page has been objected to by anyone, it may not be proposed for deletion again by flagging it with the template. An editor who still feels the page ought to be deleted, may make a request on the A Fifth Dimension:Candidates for deletion page, listing the best arguments for having the page removed.
