| - Elayne and Nynaeve have been in Falme for weeks. Nynaeve is still sickened by the sight of damane. She thinks she sees Padan Fain among the crowds. She has taken off the serpent ring. Elayne tells her she has stolen apples, and Nynaeve says she shouldn’t steal things, but was surprised at how expensive everything was here. Nynaeve has been trying to release damane that they pass on the street. There has to be a way to get those collars off. The two find the damane quarters that have to have Egwene and Min inside. Point of view: Egwene al'Vere Egwene looks out the window from her room. She can see Renna in the garden. Min was in another house, but has less rules than Egwene. She uses the power frequently to try and remove the collar. The bracelet hangs on a peg on the wall. A damane who tries to move the bracelet will feel ill. Min arrives for her “weekly visit”. She has a nice dress, and a ribbon in her hair. Egwene asks why she’s wearing a dress, and Min says she had to. The Seanchan did not know what to do with her, since she does not channel the way Egwene does, so they decided she was a serving girl and should dress as such. Min says she has found a ship captain who is willing to take them away from the town. Egwene says she will stay here, she cannot get out of the a’dam. Egwene asks Min to give her a knife so she can demonstrate that damane cannot even touch a weapon. Egwene has encountered two Aes Sedai that have been captured. One is Ryma Galfrey now called Pura. Egwene asks Min to remember Ryma and her since the Seanchan are going to send her by ship to Seanchan in a few days. Renna comes in and can tell that Egwene was channeling without permission. As punishment she changes Egwene's name to Tuli, after a pet kitten she once had.
