The department does not staff its stations, with the exception being during times of peak volume such as large storms. Members are alerted via voice pager and/or radio and notify dispatch that they are responding to either station or directly to the scene (this practice is discouraged). Law enforcement in the area is provided by the Latah County Sherrifs Office and the Idaho State Police .
