| - Mega Man 3 (Rockman 3: The End of Dr. Wily!? in Japan) is a Nintendo Entertainment System sequel to Mega Man 2. It was developed and published by Capcom in 1990 in Japan and America and in 1992 in Europe. In November of 2008, the game was released on Nintendo's Virtual Console service in all three major territories. The game was a critical and commercial success, selling over a million copies worldwide. The game was the first in the franchise that would give Mega Man the ability to slide, which would be retained in all future games excluding Mega Man 9 for the WiiWare, which was intended to be more similar to Mega Man 2, which didn't feature the ability. Perhaps even more beloved is the addition of Mega Man's robotic dog, Rush, who has since been a prominent character in the series.

- While well-known, the commands for controller 2 are very likely not built-in cheat codes, but rather debugging features that the developers forgot to remove:
* Hold Right + A to give Mega Man a super jump.
* Hold Up + A to freeze animations. Some enemies will still move, others will stop, others depend on what behavior they exhibit at the time of freezing the enemy.

- In the year 200X Dr. Wily claims to have reformed and works with Dr. Light on a project to build a peace-keeping robot named "Gamma." However, the eight Robot Masters that the two scientists had designed in order to help maintain peace go berserk, and make off with the eight power crystals. Once again, Mega Man is called into action, but this time with a trusty canine companion named "Rush," to go after them and retrieve the crystals, located on various mining planets in space.
- Mega Man's third game takes him to... hell, there's no setting or story to these games. You had to fight Hard Man, Snake Man, Needle Man... and 5 other robot masters. This game introduced sliding and Rush to the series, but Mega Man 3 was best known for the Doc Robot stages, which forced you to revisit modified versions of past stages and fight bosses that would impersonate the robot masters from Mega Man 2. Because of these boss fights, Mega Man 3 had the most boss fights of any Mega Man game in the original series at a total of 29.
