Battles in this show are represented by forcefields on the sides of the battlefield that allow for a ringout. The stage gets set via a virtual shift in the environment. Shields are forcefields that appear around the fighters, and to justify stun from shield breaking, a blinding flash of light appears to the one whose guard is broken.
