  • The Ardent was part of the fleet of jaunt ships - battleships with an in-built wormhole generator - Memory Omega built at Erebus Station, beyond the rim of the Milky Way Galaxy. These ships were given to Terran Rebellion personnel after they had received training on the station. In the year 2378, the Ardent was part of the fleet that jaunted to Bajor to prevent the Klingons from launching a trilithium warhead at B'hava'el. The Ardent was part of General Miles O'Brien's battlegroup and opened the wormhole to Bajor. Keeping the wormhole open, the Ardent was the last jaunt ship of General O'Brien's fleet to arrive. During the battle, the Ardent lost its shields. The crew sacrificed themselves when they rammed the Ardent into a Klingon squadron, destroying three ships instantly and sending off two more as tumbling hulks. The Defiant positioned itself between the Ardent's exploding form and the Enterprise to protect the flagship from shrapnel. The Bajorans were moved by the Terran Rebellion's efforts and sacrifices to protect their world. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: Rise Like Lions)
