| - Zandow was the Strong-Man in Fritz Tiboldt's Circus in the 1940's. When the group was hired by the Nazi party to tour the United States and eliminate key military officials, Zandow would be loyal to the cause.
Captain America and Bucky would then attempt to stop them, beating the strong-man in combat, and smashing the operations of the circus.
After he left the Circus of Crime, Leet Brannis left Zandow in charge of guarding the technology he stole from Howard Stark. However, SSR Agent Peggy Carter and Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis were on the trail of the stolen technology, and eventually found the boat where Brannis left the devices. Unaware that Brannis had since died, Zandow attacked Agent Carter to protect the stolen goods, but she incapacitated him with a device that forced the muscles in his arms to catastrophically contract, breaking his arm. Not long afterwards, a team of SSR agents led by Daniel Sousa and Ray Krzeminski swarmed the location. Zandow and Agent Krzeminski were shot down by an unknown assassin while he was being taken back to the SSR's main offices.
