Like the other FGM models, the FGM400 is based on the S series and has flush set pickups and a deep-set neck and tremolo which allow extra low string clearance from the body, which Gambale sought. New features include the Ibanez pickups and an updated overall look. Instead of a full-sized humbucking pickup in the neck, the FGM400 has single coil-sized humbuckers in both the neck and mid position. The FGM400 and FGM400QM were the final Frank Gambale models produced by Ibanez; the series was discontinued after 1999.
